Born on April 1985, Èlia Lopez discovered her passion and love for dance at the age of five. She studied contemporary dance at Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. To further her training, she traveled around Europe to attend workshops of international teachers.
In addition to her studies, Elia has practiced Yoga since the age of sixteen and in 2014 she took a Hatha Yoga teacher training at Sivananda center in India. Whenever possible, she loves to combine her professional career with teaching dance or yoga.
Professionally she has worked with companies, choreographers and artists as Sasha Waltz & Guests , La Veronal, Gelabert-Azzopardi, Àlex Rigola, Romeo Castellucci, Maura Morales, Gustavo Ramirez, Lanònima Imperial, Toula Limnaios, Stopgap Dance Company and Els Comediants among others and she has performed with them around the world.
She has participated as well in many other independent projects involving video dance, installations, videoclips or photography as a performer, choreographer and movement assistant.
Èlia Lopez is a professional dancer and yoga teacher. She discovered her passion and love for dance at the age of five and discovered yoga at the age of sixteen in Barcelona, because a ballet teacher recommended, with Xavier Sola who aroused in her a deep interest in this discipline and even today remains a great inspiration. It was a revelation for her.
During years Elia has studied various styles of yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Iyengar Yoga on a regular basis and under the guidance of different yoga instructors.
It is in 2014 when she decides to travel to India to take her first yoga teacher training with Sivananda Vedanta Center (200h) and imbue herself with their tradition.
On her first visit to New York in 2016, she stepped into Dharma Yoga Center without knowing where she was going and she was completely surprised and amazed with the masterclass lead by Sri Dharma Mittra, demanding, challenging and fun. She found her Guru, found her yoga, the meaning of being a real yogi and her spiritual path. Therefore, in 2017 she decided to study her next teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra (500h in progress) in New York.
Whenever possible, she loves to combine her dancer`s career with yoga teaching, worldwide dancers or all kind of people. She believes yoga should be accessible to everyone.
Elia´s comes with a set of fun, playful, and enlightening practices, all shared with loving care and experience to help you find the bliss and joy of a fully awakened practice.
Yoga reminds her that the body is a bridge that leads to something higher; each asana pose has the ability to lead students to perfect stillness and peace, marrying their body and soul.
