Retreat Dance Your Asana

You will be guided to live a Body Mind experience through  Yoga Asana (Postures). Dancing your Asana by following your own rhythm, your own music which is your breath. Carmen class is a mix of Hatha, gently flow and with a therapeutic point of view  she will bring props to support and assist  postures and learn more about Body-alignment. This class will include: Basic breathing exercises (Pranayama), a series of Asanas, Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) and deep relaxation ( Yoga Nidra) and a gentle introduction to meditation.

A basic daily routine includes Sunrise Yoga, asana practice ( moderate to vigorous), breakfast, non Yoga activity (2-3 hrs.), Asana Practice (gentle or restorative), free time ( Hiking, surfing, walking, resting, many options, exploring the place around), dinner and closing with a gentle meditation.

Classes will be taught both in the retreat shala and on the beach.

This practice will include Yoga Asana exploration, Breathing techniques, guided relaxation, a gentle introduction to meditation, dance as creative movement, and plenty of mindfulness dynamics.

Full-Day Hike through the gentle hills of Samaná

Explore the undiscovered treasures of the Samaná peninsula. The plan is to go on a full-day hike with visiting Boca del Diablo, Playa Frontón and the rural area around Las Galeras. Starting with a boat in Las Galeras we will arrive Playa Fronton after 30 minutes. There we will stay for 2 hours, enjoying the beach and the sea. Drinking fresh coconut water. Then we will walk along the unspoiled coastline, discover different fruits and vegetables while hiking along the cultivable land and get to know the village life in La Guázuma. You will feel all the efforts by experiencing the natural way of the Dominican Republic.

Trip to the waterfall El Limon including horseriding

The waterfall “Salto El Limon” is located amidst a lush tropical landscape on the peninsula of Samaná, approximately an hour away from Las Galeras. This spectacular waterfall drops 150 feet into a natural, beautiful pool filled with fresh, crystal clear water.
You can reach the top of the waterfall on horseback, then hike downwards through tropical jungle until you reach the bottom of this roaring cascade, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the big natural pool.

Day 1 Monday 

Welcome to  Santo Domingo.
Transfers: Airport-Lodge to Caribe Yoga Ocean View Eco Lodge. ( 3 hrs  road trip).
Bungalows assignations, resting time, getting ready for the next day.

Day 2 Tuesday

7:30am  Wake up call ( bells).
8:00am -9:30am: “Breathing your essence” class. Physical Yoga practice.
10:00am Breakfast.
Free Time: Pool area, taking time to yourself.
5:00pm-6:30pm. “Dancing with your breath” class. Physical Yoga practice combined with creative movement or dance.
6:45pm Dinner.

Day 3 Wednesday

7:30am Wake up call ( bells).
8:00am-9:30am. “Leading your practice with your heart” class.
10:00am. Breakfast.
11:30am. Day Trip to the most fascinating caribbean beach “Playa Fronton”. Start at the beach Las Galeras town by boat (30 minutes), untouched nature, impressive panorama, a nice refreshment drinking fresh coconut water and eating the natural goodness of the coconut meat. Long mindfulness walking meditation through the jungle and the unforgetable sound of “Boca de diablo” (observation with full love and care 3 hrs.)
5:00pm Going back to the Lodge by bus.
6:45pm Dinner.

Day 4 Thursday

7:30am Wake Up call ( bells).
8:00am-9:30am. “Finding your true nature” class. Yoga physical practice and Creative movement.
10:00am Breakfast.
11:00 Day at the wonderful beach Playita, fresh Coconut-Water for free, Natural swimming pool
5:30pm-6:00pm “Relaxation Time”. Yin Yoga.
6:45pm. Dinner

Day 5 Friday

7:30am Wake up call ( bells).
8:00am-9:30 am.  Physical Yoga Practice: “Discovering your natural music, the sound of your breath” class.
10:00am Breakfast.
11:30am Trip To El Limon Waterfall and horse back riding, swimming in the sweet water of the waterfall. Yummy buffet at El Limon restaurant.
6:45pm. Dinner.

Day 6 Saturday

8:30am-9:45am. Closing Yoga Sessions. “Dance Your Asana Yoga” Class.
10:30 am Brunch.
free time, pool area, getting ready for Sunday check out. (alternative Shuttle to the beach)
6:00pm Dinner.
8:00pm Guided Meditation.

Day 7 Sunday

Away from the crowds of tourists and surrounded by marvellous nature, you can find the Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge.  Here is a perfect retreat for dreamers, people seeking peace and quite, Yogis and meditators from all kind of all methods and schools.

The Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge is located on top of a hill near the village of La Guázama and the idyllic fishing town Las Galeras on the Samaná peninsula. This spot is widely recognized as the most beautiful region of the Dominican Republic, primarily due to the thousands of coconut trees and the many pristine beaches.

The closest beaches are Playa Grande (the main beach in Las Galeras) and the especially beautiful beach, Playita. Both can be reached within 15 minutes by car or motorbike.

Also close by is the beach Playa Rincon, a three-mile long, white sandy beach; one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. From Las Galeras you can reach it within 25 minutes by car or within 15 minutes by boat.

There is also Playa Fronton, a perfect snorkeling spot. This Robinson Crusoe beach with its impressive panorama can be reached with a 30 minute hike, or by boat, or horse (not accessible by car).  The small romantic bay with its natural beach Playa Madame is also within reach either by boat or by horse.

Las Galeras, with its small supermarkets, restaurants and beach huts can be reached within 15 minutes by car. Here you can drink Dominican rum together with the locals, or book a boat trip with the local fishermen.

For those who want to discover the beauty of the Samaná peninsula independently, a rental car would be most suitable. But those who prefer to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere at the Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge can easily get around with taxis and so called “Motoconchos” (motorbike taxi) procured for you by the property manager.

The closest airports are the “El Catey International Airport” of Samaná (about 1 hour drive) and the “International Airport Las Americas” of Santo Domingo (about 2.5 hour drive). Rental Cars or transfers from either airport to the Eco-Lodge can be arranged for you.

The comfortable bungalow complex offers an unforgettable and relaxing stay. The tropical vegetation in and around the area, the tranquility of the site, and the stunning views make you feel as if you are visiting paradise. Every year more than 1000 humpback whales migrate from the Polar Regions into the Bay of Samaná for mating season. From mid-December to end of March you can observe this great spectacle directly from the Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge. The Yoga classes are suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike. Each participant will be supported to perform the exercises accurately, receiving the full attention of the yoga instructor, which is why classes are limited.  Advanced learners will be encouraged and corrected while holding longer poses (Asanas) and beginners will receive a gentle introduction.

Carmen Sánchez

Carmen Sanchez is a Certified Yoga Instructor for RYT 200 and Kids. Her foundation comes from 27 years experience as a contemporary dancer.

When Carmen took her first yoga class in 2004, she fell into a state of peace of mind that somehow made her feel at home. The healing power of yoga helped Carmen be prepared for lengthy and physically demanding performances.

 “Yoga is more about our inner shape than anything else, so it works to sculpt our mind”, says Carmen.

In 2012, Carmen received her Yoga Teacher Certification in Orlando, FL and started teaching her own unique style that combines Hatha, gentle and dance. She has taught young and adults in multiple places: schools, gyms, wellness centers, studios, private lessons. Then in 2015, Carmen moved to the city of Roanoke, a beautiful valley in Virginia US where she continues sharing her gift and passion.

In March 2017, she was part of “The Give Back Yoga Foundation” which consisted in bringing a meaningful event to her town. She is also getting ready for another beautiful cause as an official Kid’s Yoga Day Ambassador 2017 and Next August- Sept 2017 she will be part of Floyd Yoga Jam in Virginia an amazing Yoga festival in the Blue Ridge Mountains  leading adults classes and kids.

Next Year 2018, Carmen will be back to the Dominican Republic Caribe Yoga with her retreat Dance Your Asana 2018 ( second edition) as a leader instructor, inviting in this opportunity yogis friends to lead the classes with her creating a nice fusion experience to this special Yoga retreat for beginners and everyone who desires to explore the magnificent landscapes from The Caribbean while submerging into a peaceful practice like Yoga.

Èlia Lopez

Èlia Lopez discovered her passion and love for dance  at the age of five and she graduates at Institut del Teatre de Barcelona in 2006. To further her training she traveled around Europe to attend workshops of renowned teachers and soon start to work professionally with companies, choreographers and artists as Sasha Waltz & Guests , La VeronalGelabert-AzzopardiÀlex RigolaRomeo CastellucciMaura MoralesGustavo RamirezLanònima Imperial, Toula Limnaios, Els Comediants among others and she has performed with them around the world.

At the age of sixteen Èlia discovers yoga, discipline that quickly fascinates her, and in 2014 she takes her first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Sivananda Vedanta Center in India and currently she is attending her 500h teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in New York. 


Whenever possible, she loves to combine her professional career with teaching dance or yoga, enjoying the opportunity of sharing her experience and knowledge. Next year, in May, she will be teaching at Dominican Republic Caribe Yoga with the retreat Dance Your Asana 2018
